Veravas™ is transforming laboratory medicine with a first of its kind, patented antibody detection platform to address unmet clinical needs.

This innovative technology uses proprietary nano-sized magnetic beads to preanalytically clean patient samples to remove problematic interferences that can cause false results. With a clean sample, IgA, IgG and IgM immunoglobulins can subsequently be captured and measured against any antigen of interest.

This technology will have a profound impact on the performance and speed of development of new serology methods and facilitates the use of saline oral rinse (saliva-based) as an alternative to serum or plasma. Using this technology, Veravas is bringing high value diagnostic tests to market in areas such as infectious disease, cardiovascular, cancer, and neurological diseases that have not been previously possible.

  • Hidde Ploegh

    Chairman Scientific Advisory Board

Dr. Ploegh is an immunologist at Boston Children's Hospital, known for his contributions in understanding antigen processing and the evasion of the immune system by viruses. Ploegh’s Whitehead Institute lab, which he established in 2005, has focused on developing innovative tools and techniques with which to explore the complexities of the immune system and its response to antigens, including those from invading pathogens and cancer cells. Prior to joining Whitehead, Ploegh taught at Harvard Medical School, where he led the immunology program. Before moving to Harvard, Ploegh was a Professor of Biology at MIT’s Center for Cancer Research (now the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research). Ploegh’s honors include a Meritorious Career Award from the American Association of Immunologists, and a special National Institutes of Health Director's Pioneer Award in support of “high-risk, high-reward” research. He is also a member National Academy of Sciences.
